This privacy policy explains how Wana Clean Bin ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information from our customers. We comply with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles set by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of New Zealand.

What information we collect

When you book a service or interact with our website, we may collect:

  • Contact information — your name, email address, phone number

  • Service address — the address where we'll be cleaning your bins

  • Service details — your council bin collection day, which bins you want cleaned, any access notes (gate codes, where your bins are kept)

  • Payment information — processed securely through our payment providers (Wix Payments and Stripe). We do not see or store your full credit card number — only the last four digits, card type, and authorisation status

  • Order and subscription details — what you bought, when, and your billing history with us

  • Communications — emails, messages, and any feedback you send us

  • Website usage data — basic analytics about how you use our website (pages visited, browser type, etc.) collected automatically through Wix and standard web tools

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver the service you've booked (clean your bins, route our work, follow access instructions)

  • Process your payment and any refunds

  • Send you order confirmations, service updates, and receipts

  • Respond to your enquiries and support requests

  • Notify you of changes to your subscription, our service, or these policies

  • Improve our service and website

  • Comply with legal obligations (tax, accounting, dispute resolution)

We do not sell your personal information. We do not send marketing emails to non-customers, and we will only send marketing emails to existing customers if they've opted in (you can opt out at any time).

Who we share your information with

We share information only with parties who help us deliver our service:

  • Wix — our website, eCommerce, and email platform. Wix processes orders, stores customer accounts, and handles website analytics on our behalf. See Wix's privacy policy for how they handle data.

  • Stripe / Wix Payments — our payment processor. Card details are entered directly with the payment provider, not us.

  • Government agencies — only when legally required (e.g., tax records, court order)

We will never sell your personal information to third parties. We will never share your information with marketers, advertisers, or other businesses outside of what's needed to deliver our service.

How we store and protect your information

Your information is stored securely on Wix's servers. Wix uses industry-standard security including SSL encryption, firewalls, and access controls. We retain your information for as long as you are an active customer, plus seven years after you stop using our service (to meet New Zealand tax and accounting requirements).

If you ask us to delete your information, we will do so within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep (such as tax records).

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you

  • Correct any inaccurate information

  • Request deletion of your information (subject to our legal record-keeping requirements)

  • Object to certain uses of your information

  • Make a complaint to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you believe we've handled your information incorrectly

Cookies and website tracking
